Re: stem cells
along with greg and a.j. i attended this session with the governor signing the two bills and then meeting with a small number of us after in a mini town hall meeting. he and deborah ortiz, state senator who authored the bills and has been a great friend to the parkinson community, took questions for over half an hour unscripted about all issues . pretty impressive actually. these bills establish a registry for stem cells, an oversight team to make sure everything is done in accordance with the law, both public and private stem cell work and to make anonymous stem cells available to docs/scientists here in california who do this important work. apparently 35 doctors/scientists from places like harvard and m.i.t. have come to california to work since the signing last year of the ortiz bill authorizing the work on stem cells from any source. this year it further defines what can and is being done with regard to embryonic stem cells. greg and a.j. have testified tirelessly for well over a year driving up to sacramento and back home and should be applauded for their efforts. maxine ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
