Re: Caregiver

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself as a new listmember. My purpose in
being a member, was to exchange information on the needs of the
caregiver and people with PD.

I was a caregiver for my husband with Parkinson's for a period of
eight years. I have had an ongoing interest in providing better care
for people with PD and hope to receive input from other listmembers.
I look forward to hearing your needs.

I would like to jump in here and say that Sandra is far, far more than a former caregiver to her husband.

As the former Executive Director of The Parkinson's Society of Alberta,
Edmonton, Sandra invited me to speak at the annual Annie Wylie Lecture,
April 2000. I was most impressed by Sandra's vision, executive skills,
and organizational ability, as well as her deep compassion and caring
for the PD community.

I know that Sandra has since formed plans for a strong outreach program
designed to provide home care, as well as help for more isolated
communities that might not have ready access to specialized health
professionals, knowledgeable about PD. It is the very type of program
that is badly needed in so many areas, here in the U.S., and around the
world.

I hope Parkinsn will welcome Sandra and her expertise in PD, home care,
and community programs.

Best regards,
Kathrynne
