ARTICLE: Israeli scientist chosen to to serve on Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's Research Foundation
Israeli scientist chosen to to serve on Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's Research Foundation Nov. 03 - Hollywood actor Michael J. Fox, who was stricken at a young age with Parkinson's disease, has chosen an Israeli neurologist to be part of the $100 million research foundation he has established, The Jerusalem Post reported. Fox chose 10 leading Parkinson's scientists around the world - including Prof. Eldad Melamed, chief of neurology at the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva - to be members of the foundation's advisory board. Melamed, one of the world's leading researchers in the field, said, "It is a great honor and rare opportunity to study the disease in a comprehensive and in-depth way. There is no doubt that it is one of the most important committees on which I have the privilege to serve." The advisory committee will be occupied mainly in deciding on the direction the foundation's research will take, examine the cause of the disease, and improve the ability to diagnose and treat it.
