Complete list of 2004 Jefferson Award nominees

Five people will be selected from this nomination list to receive Jefferson
Award medallions honoring their
contribution to community service. The presentation takes place at a CityClub
luncheon at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel at
noon on March 4. The public is invited to attend and hear featured speaker Norm
Rice, former Seattle mayor. Cost is
$45. For information, call CityClub at 206-682-7395 or contact them by e-mail

The Jefferson Award program was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
and Sen. Robert Taft Jr. to honor the
special dedication, sacrifices and significant accomplishments of individuals
in service to the American people. The
awards also strive to motivate new leaders in public service. The Seattle
Post-Intelligencer has been the Washington
state sponsor of the Jefferson Awards since 1976.

This year's five Jefferson Award judges are:

Claudia Kauffman, director of charities for the Muckleshoot Tribe.

Steve Leahy, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Seattle
Chamber of Commerce.

Mona Lee Locke, Washington's first lady.

Steven Stargardter, president of City University.

Mark Trahant, P-I editorial page editor.
