Stem cells are not gathered from older embryos so it is no good talking about 5 month old fetuses who can be viable ( just). During in vitro fertilization, several eggs are fertilized, one reimplanted. The others are thrown away. They may as well be used for curing diseases. They don´t do any good in a garbage can. Of course, one ca always argue about the purpose of in vitro fertilization.
