A complete bowel obstruction is a medical emergency. Get her to her doctor who can and will lay hands on her to make the diagnosis right away. If your doctor doesn't want to lay hands on her belly and do a rectal exam, fire him/her and find one who will. PS: Enough codeine can stop a bowel dead in its tracks (so to speak).
