        I  know  that  I  tend  to be  pretty geeky at times ... well,
     okay, ...  most of the time.  But I was sure  that  most  of  the
     people  who were complaining about AltaVista just didn't have the
     details.

        Granted,  not  everyone on-list will (and I would guess *most*
     everyone on-list does not) have a flair for or a desire to  learn
     boolean  logic.  But, if one had even been exposed to an AND here
     or an OR there and possibly a NOT somewhere  in  between,  I  was
     positive  that  they would see the advantages that AltaVista pro-
     vides.

        Now,  every  search  engine has an advanced search capability.
     And, I would strongly encourage everybody to click  on  the  help
     for  the  normal  and advanced search features for their favorite
     engine, read the text, and maybe even print it out.  In this way,
     you  can  be  sure  that  you will use the search facility in the
     fastest and most efficient ways. They may  also  have  a  greater
     possibility of getting to the Web sites that have the most perti-
     nent content more quickly.
