To Connie and other 'Saliva Sufferers':- In response to a recent query about a saliva buildup which is ecute first thing in the morning, I found a solution a few months ago through an appointment with an Eye,Ear & Nose specialist in Ottawa. He diagnosed my condition as a bad case of dry mouth. Apparently the tissues in the nose and throat are normally lubricated daily with as much as a litre of saliva , which is reduced dramatically for a person with Parkinson's. He recommended the use of a nasal spray which clears and moisturizes the nasal and throat cavities. He mentionned that various products are available over the counter without a prescription. The one which he recommended, and which I have found effective, is a spray called HYDRAsense. It contains mainly sea water and no harmful preservatives. The bottle is accompanied with a patented applicator which is specially designed to fit comfortably into the nostrils. My GP also recommended the use of HYDRAsense. He also recommended another non irritating nasal spray called Salinex which is less expensive. I have not tried it. Hope this helps! <kenclements@xxxxxxxx>
