EMERGENCY PD
Dear Group,
Sorry I don't contribute very often, but I read you all every day and
respect your
opinions.
My dad is 84, has been diagnosed about 10 yrs, lives in a nursing home,
cannot
walk or eat(has feeding tube since Thanksgiving). Last night he was sent
to the hospital.
As I understand it, he has been in a lot of abdominal pain, had blockage
which has been cleared,
had some blood in his stool and a urinary infection. I believe they sent
him to the hospital
to treat the last two symptoms.
My question for you is Does anyone know what is usually given to someone
with
a feeding tube to keep things moving? Or is this a sign of permanent
muscle failure?
I saw him Easter weekend and he was complaining of bedsores (but he has none)
so he must have been blocked already back then.
I want to believe he is getting very good care, but I have spoken to the
head
nurse about other things and would be comfortable taking your suggestions
to her.
Thanks in advance, Sue
