Re: A Story
dear maryse
my jack is like your john he still wants to do a lot of things
even if it harder now. after 51years of marriage i just let
him go. he was always such an able do-it-yourself guy
and always did whatever i wanted.when he retired at 65
he requested that i also retire [ all i was doing at that time
was selling miniature doll furniture and toys at swap meets
or doll shows ] but i said okay. would you believe he then
told me that since i did all the cooking he would do all the
dishes. he also vacumns the house and he still does those
tasks and i llet him. sometimes i have to do over dishes or
pots but never let him see me do so. when he gets stuck at something he does
ask me to help but i never offer.
a long time ago i decided that the most depressing feelings
come from thinking that no one needs you. i even get our
kids to ask his advice and for him to assist with simple
jobs. i dearly loved linda's understanding that her husband
wanted to be useful. it's tough to keep cool but by sharing
her problem she bound us all together as sisters in love
with our guys just because they are our darlings.
[ but at times i'm sure we'd like to choke them for their
male mulish stubborness.]
love
connie
