1. canadian coin:

to me, the "loony" was a odd name for a foreign object,
[since i had lived outside of canada from 1981 to 1997].
"how silly", says i, "why not just call it the 'dollar coin'?"

then the two dollar coin was issued and it was instantly
and universally dubbed [what else?] 'the toonie'.

just imagine the [serious] conversations nationwide
at canadian cash registers ...


2.  canadian candy:

wherever you go in the world
you just have to say you're a canadian
and people laugh
