We were told to fill out a VOTER REGISTRATION card when my mother was moved to a nursing home in a new location. You may need this to verify proof of residency for other reasons. For instance, Minnesota is giving all RESIDENTS a tax refund this year, on taxes they paid last year (I think). The voter registration was helpful in showing mother's residency for a two year period.
