Re: laser treatment for Parkinson disease
Dear Yen,
Your father has been diagnosed with PD for five years, yet
is only taking 300 mg of levodopa daily. It's possible that
he is undermedicated.
It's also possible that the "passing out" episodes are due
to orthostatic hypotension, which can occur with PD
medications. Is his physician a neurologist specializing in
movement disorders? That is extremely important for his
well-being as PD advances. As PD progresses, it becomes
increasingly harder to prescribe exactly the right
medications in the right amounts.
I suggest you might e-mail your question to Dr. Abe
Lieberman, a leading neurologist specializing in Parkinson's
disease.
If you'd like to do so, go to the NPF website:
scroll down the page and click on
Ask Dr. Lieberman, NPF Medical Director
Follow the directions, and you'll be able to e-mail Dr.
Lieberman
directly. He usually responds within 48 hours.
My very best regards,
Kathrynne
