Re: State of Maine cuts my home-care services from 13 hrs to 5 hrs; Appeal called in
Dear Ivan-- this is horrible, as you describe it-- was there no advocate
who could be present with you during the interview? Where are the people
locally who should be supporting you in this? I would think that the input
from Mainers would carry more weight than that of "outsiders", but our
voices can't hurt. It sounds like a personal vendetta on both
sides......Great that you have an attorney who will work with you on it,
locally. That should help. Would she be willing to receive email/snailmail
from PIEN members to use in her attempt to help you?
It does sound like a deliberate attempt to force you into assisted
living or other NOT AT HOME care. You've faced this before, and have not
wished to consider alternatives that have been suggested, such as selling
your home and using the proceeds to support yourself and pay for the help
you need in another home environment. Is this possible? Who else there is
working with you on this? Surely other PWPs in the area / city / state
must be concerned. Do you know if the Gov. has email? Not everyone can
afford a longdistance call. Let us know the status of the appeal, please,
and any addresses where letters could be sent during that process.
