The few times I have had this problem was when the internet service provider was having difficulty. If this only happens on certain web sites, then it may be the server at that site. If it is your "home page" or main page that comes up when you click on your IE, you might try typing in a different URL address and see if it goes to that page.
 
There seems to be a couple of server problems around the country right now anyway (probably holiday overload, viral exposure?). I have been receiving messages a couple of days late (that is, the message is posted on the 12th and I receive it on the 14th!) from a couple of different professional lists to which I subscribe.

Dear list friends,
Is anyone else having trouble with INTERNET EXPLORER?  I get the two messages
in the lower left corner "web site found" and "connecting to site" both
flashing spastically
back and forth.  It won't connect. Has anyone ever experienced this?  Can
anyone help?
