NEWS: Disabled will lose under Social Security proposals
Hello, Bad news. According to a study by the General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, people with disabilities would lose income and benefits under proposals to revamp Social Security by allowing workers to put some of their Social Security payroll taxes into personal investment accounts. This includes the proposal of President George W. Bush. The study said that disabled workers would receive less income from individual accounts than retirees would, because the disabled typically have shorter work histories and would have less time to accumulate money in their accounts.
