Emergency Room and PD
Hi !
After reading several recent posts regarding ER and PD, I feel I must
add my very recent experience.
Without going into the details and reasons for admission, here is how
it went with me. I had had previous hospitable experience so I was a bit
savvy RE:PD.
I told them immediately that I had PD and asked if they knew about PD.
Then I explained about Eldepryl and the interaction with certain meds.
The admitting doctor sent his assistants one at a time as he was delayed
and extremely busy that Friday afternoon. I repeated my story re:Pd etc to
each
medic that came in.
In the meantime Internist's requests for lab tests were performed, X-Rays of
lungs and belly taken, EKG performed. IV setup, etc and I was set in a
curtained-off area
waiting to be admitted to the hospital. My husband was with me all the
while. The emergency room chief physician came by periodically to assure us
that I would be
admitted soon.
Careful; data was taken as to my Parkie meds etc...and doctors and nurses
dropped by to see if we were OK.
It was a long wait
I can't say we enjoyed it. ..we were pretty tired ...and frustrated....by
the time we were admited to hospital per se.
but I must admit that under the circumstances it was a pretty fine
experience.
This happened two weeks ago at Columbia-Presbyterian Med. Cent. in New York
City
I'm now home recuperating and feeling pretty great !
