Pergolide is an ergot drug.

Ergot drug = a drug containing alkaloids (as f.e. ergotamine). Alkaloids
have a contractile effect on smooth muscle (as of peripheral arterioles).

Ergotism = a toxic condition that (amongst others) can be produced by
chronic excessive use of an ergot drug.
