Here we go again!  I remember this discussion arising years ago, and of
course it is expected to return periodically as do so many so called 'Health
Alerts'. I would suggest you look up the archived posts on the subject.  I
have been here and would consider it a waste of my time to re-hash it.  But
please, do enjoy what you find.
One simple way to prove the case one way or the other is simply to assess
the variability in the making of silver amalgams, and then to determine
quantitatively if indeed there is vaporization of mercury from silver
amalgams.  Modern techniques of chemical analysis can measure the presence
of mercury down to parts per billion without much difficulty.  If that can
be proven that it does occur, then devise an experiment that will measure
the rate of this occurrence.  If that can be done, the next step is to
attempt to correlate any presence of mercury with toxicity.  Good luck;
