Michel,

Could this be a discussion of the "electrolytic" reaction (the
generation of a small, but painful, electric current by the two dissimilar
metals being in electrical contact) that sometimes occurs when a silver
amalgam filling and a gold one are next to each other?  I have had this
happen personally once.  As to release of mercury, I agree with you
that this cannot happen under these conditions.
