Rick,
I also took the opportunity offered by my disability insurance to gradually cut back. Educating co-workers and colleagues about PD is difficult in an environment that probably more often than not puts emphasis on short term efficiencies.
If I had the opportunity to do it over again, I would be more realistic about the progression of PD and recognize how subtly it changes life. After a comprehensive review of my finances and medical insurance, I would be more open to letting go of my old situation and devote more attention to what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I would not spend too much time and energy trying to maintain an employment situation that was not healthy for me or my family. I would be more open to and willing to experiment with how Parkinson's had is changing the direction of my life.
I realize now, that even though difficult, slow can be better.
