Re: PD and Sleep Apnea
My father is currently being treated for PD. He has suffered from sleep apnea for as long as I can remember watching him sleep in his recliner after a meal or a boring football game. He is currently being seen by a Movement Disorder specialist and upon looking at my Dad's MRI, he remarked that he had more white spots than almost anyone he has ever seen on his MRI. He has urged my Dad to go in for an evening at the UAMS sleep disorder clinic in Little Rock, AR. Having sleep apnea is a dangerous thing and temporarily deprives the brain of oxygen. There are devices available to awaken a patient who might otherwise fail to respond to the brain's request for oxygen. No one has ventured to say what these white spots are, in fact, evidence of TIAs, but my Dad's mental status has steadily declined over the years. For what it is worth.
