i also live in west central illinois.  given your email address
- gallatin river phone company - i'm guessing you're in pekin or
galesburg.  there is a support group in peoria (which i attend monthly)
as well as the quad cities.  i also know someone in pekin with parkinson's
if you would like their name and email address.

when you describe your father's walking, it sounds a lot like me.
 i would drag my left foot.  mornings i could manage to get to work
but had trouble getting around.  by noon i was done for.  if i went
to the grocery store, i barely made it around and would feel like,
if i had to stand one more second i would be sitting on the floor.
sinemet - the gold standard drug for pd, made a lot of difference.
 walking isn't great but much improved.

the people on the listserv have lots of good ideas.  there's also
a 'care list' for caregivers.  you can vent your frustrations to other 
caregivers.
