PROGENI
Are there any members who have signed up for or wish to participate in the PROGENI study? PROGENI stands for " Parkinson's Research: The Organized Genetics Initiative." Participation requires that families have at least one or more living siblings with PD. Eligible PWP will complete some questionnaires and contribute blood samples for extraction of DNA. This is an ongoing collaborative effort by the Parkinson Study Group, neurologists from the U.S. and Canada, and is sponsored by NIH. Working through a number of universities (Indiana, Ohio State, Emory, and others), they are helping solve the PD genetic puzzle. I spoke to one of the investigators this morning and they are still seeking volunteers.
