monosaccharides = sugar
disaccharides = sugar

The mono and di simply describe the chemical structure of the sugar
molecules.
My dictionary describes saccharide as " one of a series of
carbohydrates,
including the sugars".

Disaccharide means two sugar molecues chemically bonded into one molecule, a little simpler han polysaccharides which are multiple sugar molecules chemically bonded into one molecule.
