Unfortunately, I view genetics as truth...and the future...without rigorous
and sometimes serendipitous intervention.
It seems to me that medical research emphasizes finding and preventing the
triggers of disease, thus returning the most bang for the buck, and earning
researchers widespread recognition.
But that emphasis pretty much hangs out to dry those struggling now with PD
and similar diseases.
I don't see much on the horizon to cheer about in the next 10 years, despite
the publicity. Our only comfort is the hope that our children and future
family members will have better alternatives.
Michael J. Fox, by the way, is scheduled to be on Oprah this afternoon.
