Re: Mirapex, blood pressure and frustration
Jan - Hi, and golly. What a complex situation! I'm not sure about mirapex, but I THINK that sinemet can lower blood pressure. Postural hypotension, where the BP drops when the patient stands up, can be especially problematic. A mirapex question: was your mother decreasing her sinemet while she upped the mirapex??? usually necessary Depression is common with chronic illness in general and with PD in particular because of lowered dopamine. Lotsa PWP take various meds, the SSRI's like prozac & zoloft seem to work esp well for many. Is your mother's neurologist a PD specialist??? When the symptoms get this complex, a PD or "movement disorder" specialist is advisable, at LEAST on a consult basis. Send a post titled something like "PD docs in (where your mother lives)" for suggestions. Mary Rack cg for Mom until 1/2/98 mrack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
