Huntington's Disease

Brain-tissue transplants could offer the first real way to
treat
people suffering from deadly Huntington's disease, British
researchers said Monday. In a study published in the journal
Nature
Medicine, scientists said they had found grafting brain
tissue into
the brains of monkeys with symptoms of Huntington's disease
restored
their ability to move to a nearly normal level after two to
three
months.  The effects lasted for up to 12 months.
Huntington's, a
disease marked by the degeneration of nerve cells in the
brain,
typically kills within 15 years. Symptoms include a loss of
motor
skills and cognitive ability - like knowing where you are or
what day
it is - as well as dementia and depression. There is no
cure. See
