Re: New Member Intro

Patricia,

I'm curious to know what sort of falling you do. Mine is largely backwards,
such that when ascending stairs I always feel as though I'm going to tip
over. By contrast, if I'm carrying weight forward (say my 10-yr. old
daughter or a television set, up or down the stairs) I am unlikely to lose my
balance. Additionally, whenever I squat down (to garden or to pet the dog),
I am likely to topple backwards. There are also occasional, utterly
unexpected fall which simply happen without apparent reasson: I'll just
lose my balance and go down.(say while fishing, or, as happened last Saturday,
just standing on our porch). Does this reflect your falling pattern?

Now, for your Sinemet query: I take 7.5 Sinemet CR 25/100 caps daily (have
taken from 10 to the current amount over the past two years). It's an awful
lot, and my doctor is working closely but guardedly with me to whittle it
down. As you may have surmised from the foregoing, although Sinemet in
conjunction w/Mirapex and Eldypryl (my other two PD drugs) does help relieve
other symptoms, it seems fruitless as far as the falling is concerned.
Indeed, my falling and general imbalance has grown significantly in the past 4
months.

I hope this helps. I'm eager to hear about your falling experiences.

John Bachman, 56/3.5
