You are right about the need to do things by trial and error.

I hope you find this information useful:

Catachol O Methyl Transferase (COMT).is one of two enzymes responsible for the
breakdown of dopamine...  Thus, when taking Tasmar , a COMT inhibitor, one
can/should take less L-dopa because the dopamine is not being destroyed as
fast with the COMT enzyme inhibited .

 Parlodel is a quite different medicine from Tasmar.  It is a  dopamine
agonist , meaning to some extent it does what dopamine does.
