Re: NIH Funding plus announcement

I suggest you contact Mike Claes at PAN. They had various scientists look
at the list of funded grants for 97 that NIH says are related to PD; this
group had the abstracts for the grants on which to base a judgement as to
relevance. I believe that only about a third were judged to be 'focused' on
PD, with another 27% 'related' and almost 40% unrelated.

On another topic, our president and CEO, Dr. Bill Langston was interviewed
for the television show 48 Hours, which is preparing a whole hour on aging
scheduled to be aired on Thursday, November 12. The topic started out to be
stem cell research, but they ended up talking to three of our patients as
well.

Subject: NIH Funding

I have seen a lot of references in the last few days to "related research"
which the NIH is doing under the heading of Parkinsons Research. I am
curious
if anybody knows what that "related research" is. Does anybody have a list
of
Titles of grant applications which the NIH claims to be part of the
Parkinsons
Program? Is it basic research on neural function? What is it?
Thanks,
