Re: New to list

I apologize for being so late in responding to your post, I certainly can
feel for you. having a numbet of ailments, in addition to PD, myself,
although I've had a little more luck than you in working them our. First of
all, if you haven't already done so, you need to see a good movement
disorders specialist--a neurologist who speclalizes in PD and other movement
disorders, such as Huntington's Chorea, ALS ("Lou Gehrig's disease)
Then, I would fill the neurologist in on the entire strory, from day 1. and
see to it that this doctor--or, perhaps, another thatt you trust more, e.g.,
your GP, if you have one, or your primary physician, for insurance
purposes--coordinagtes all subsequent treatment and that all info goes through
this doctor. You have too much going on to just go from one
specialist to the other, wiith no medical person. I don't know what you
have--some of your sx sound like PD but then others don/t There's a group
of disorders called Parkinsonism, each of which have some sx of PD and tend to
loook like PD at first but they allso have other features which define them
and make them different form PD. Any good movement disorder specialist would
know about these.
You may allready be aware of everything everything I've suggested' if so, I
apologize for the redundancy.. But, having tried to navigate these troubled
waterrs by myself for awhille, I knnow how difficult and self-defeating that
can be, and how hard it casn be tgo put your faith in the medical
establishment whren they don't sxeemm to be hellp[ng I believe that we
should have a strong voice in our treatment and pasrticiipate actively in our
choices ,etc. but part of being strong is seeking help and the right kind
when you need it.
Good luck
Marty Polonsky
