TASMAR UPDATE.?

Joe,

We had a death of a PD person taking TASMAR here. A retired MD was on
TASMAR. He was depressed about his condition and felt he was headed for
stage 4+ or 5 fast. His death was self-induced . There was no autopsy to
the best of my knowledge. Liver disturbance could have been the triggering
cause for his action.

TASMAR UPDATE 04 May 1999
Besides the three cases of tolcapone (Tasmar)-associated fatal
liver failures last year among the more than 60,000 users, that
prompted the requirement for periodic blood testing, I've found
four reports of deaths from other or unknown causes among Tasmar
users, with only slight hints of possible liver damage. As of
February 1999, I have seen no case where monitoring has not
provided effective warning of potential liver failure. Cheers,
Joe
