Non PD-Can Aspirin Save Your Life?
I remember someone asking about this quite a while ago...
Can Aspirin Save Your Life?
by Roger S. Blumenthal, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Recent television commercials have suggested that taking an aspirin
while experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack can help save a
person's life. Other advertisements say that for those who have survived
a first heart attack, aspirin can help prevent another. <snip>
People who believe they are having a heart attack should promptly chew a
full aspirin. This helps prevent the development as well as the
propagation of a blood clot that may be apt to form at the site of a
ruptured atherosclerotic plaque. Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation,
which is involved in the process of blood clot formation. <snip>
