Re: Stim Setting

Chris,
What is it about the surgery that causes nearly all PD
symptoms to disappear completely or improve dramatically
immediately after the biSTN procedure even before the
stimulators are turned on?

Why does this "surgical effect" wear off after about a
week to 10 days if the stimulators have not been turned
on?

At least that was our experience.

By the way, the theory of brain swelling after STN
surgery is not correct.
Stim. parameter adjustments can be done right after
surgery. The response
is immediate and the worsening after stopping
stimulation is very evident.
