Re: A recent letter
Paul, I have seen many of the "free computer" deals. All that I have seen involve a monthly charge which is more than an ISP would charge, and there are some ISP available FREE now! Also the computers involved are usually quite obsolete by todays standards, and you need to wait until the rebates come back after you lay out a few hundred dollars. I would suggest anyone who needs a computer, to find someone who can tell you what you need in computing power, and go to a reliable store, buy a system put together, matched, and tested. Pay a fair price and get a REAL bargain. My Aptiva (IBM) was not cheap and is outdated by today's standards, but except for when I let someone try to "improve it" for me and I had to reformat the hard drive just to get my modem working again! Usually, in computers, you "get what you pay for" I LOVE bargains, but real ones are scarce! Just my 2 cents! Ken B
