The advice about Wilson's Disease especially from Ray is excellent.
Wilson's is one of the "Rule outs" most neurologists check at the time that
they suspect PD and it can be treatable. What I remember from med school is
the Kayser-Fleisher Ring which can form from deposits of copper around the
Iris (colored portion) of the eye and copper metabolism. However my
diagnosing neurologist checked for and found an arcus senilus which can
appear like a Kayser-Fleisher ring and double checked to see if I had
Wilson's Disease. (Which I didn't have)
It is extremely rare but the fact that you had a cousin that had the
illness increases the risk significantly. Your mother probably does not
have Wilson's Disease but it absolutely should be checked for.
