Re: Prozac

In reply to your question, my mother (82 yrs.old, PD -7 years) was on Prozac
- 10 mg at night before going to bed - as her doctor put it -"to alter the
perception of pain" and help her sleep. For awhile, he did increase it to 20
mg but that made her feel "out of it" - complained of extreme
light-headedness. He prescribed Elavil 10 mg and she has tolerated it better
-however, when her pain (she also suffers from arthritis) became too
excruciating, her Sinemet dosage was raised during the day and she was given
a painkiller (Ultram) for those times.

I'm not sure if that small dosage has any effect on depression which is also
associated with PD. Hope this provides some info for you. Cathy
