I've been diagnosed for about 18 years and would be "lost without my
computer" too. My handwriting is virtually illegible, so I use  the 'puter
for just about everything from my grocery shopping list to letters to the
editor! I have found that a mouse requires too much precision but am able to
use a Tandy trackball with ease.
Hope that the trackball will work for you too.
I agree! Don't give up!
