Re: Introducing myself to the list
Dear Fokke-- welcome to the PD list. You asked about problems with memory and depression. Both of these can be related to PD. About 1/3 of Parkinsonians may have dementia to some degree, including loss of memory and slowing of thinking processes, just as PD slows down ALL the bodily functions. Depression is also very common, and can be treated with anti-deperssant medications. I hope your father has seen a good neurologist who knows a lot about PD--and realizes that no two cases are exactly alike! You will find a lot of information in the list archives, which hold all the posts from the beginning of the list. If you joined after the information about the archive and how to use it was posted, you can email John Cottingham and ask for a copy of the instructions: ; jcott@xxxxxxxxx Good luck in helping your father.
