Another response about drug interactions to avoid: you indicAte your mother is not on Eldepryl, so Demerol is probably not a problem. However, be aware there may be difficulties with opiates which are contained in painkillers like Percocet (generic=Doxicet,chem.=oxycodone +acetaminophen ) because they compete for the dopamine receptors and make the PD meds ineffective. That was what happened to Peter after surgery with Percocet. Check the archives for further info about other problem drugs--and watch carefully what happens when ANY new drug is introduced. There were also in the past several posts about hip surgery, which John Cottingham might be able to provide from archives. Good luck, hope it goes well for her.
