As Parkinson's progresses, particularly if you are not having text book
symptoms, a movement disorders specialist can be  god sent.  It is very
helpful to have someone treating you who is not afraid to balance
drugs......change drugs.........recognize drug
reactions/interactions......and understand that although you are doing ok
during the 15 minutes in his/her office..........that 30 minutes from now you
may be unable to move.

The sooner treatment and referral to allied medical professionals can
begin..........t          heeasieryouradjustmentwillbe.Pitfallscanbespared.
 I would fight with all of my might for a movement disorder specialist.
 Several new drugs are soon to be released by FDA.................theories
change.  The first neuro I saw was not comfortable treating chronic
degenerative conditions in a patient his own age...........he could cope
better with stroke/accident/seizures..............thank heavens he referred
me to a specialist.

Neurology is a widespread field:  tumors; seizures; children; MS; Alzheimers;
etc........each is very different

None of this is said to degrade the general neuro and general practioner who
may be empathetic and willing to search for some of the answers and be more
helpful to some patients than an overcommited specialist in some instances.
