FOURTH ANNUAL MORRIS K. UDALL AWARDS DINNER SET FOR APRIL 29 The Network will take over Washington, DC's Union Station East Hall on April 29th to host the Fourth Annual Udall Awards for Public Policy. The Dinner, a fundraising event for PAN, will honor two federal legislators, Senator Tom Harkin (R-IA) and Representative Fred Upton (R-MI), and renowned musical comedy troupe The Capitol Steps. The Udall Awards Dinner was established in 1994 to honor Morris K. Udall and the unique skills he used in his legislative career to elevate public policy discourse. During Mo's 30-year congressional career, he infused elements of humor, grace and class into American politics. Many of today's leaders, both Democratic and Republican, use Mo's fairness, decency and sense of humor as a role model in their own careers. The Capitol Steps follow political satirists Art Buchwald and Mark Russell as Udall Award Honorees. Senator Harkin worked with Mo to form Independent Action, an organization to support progressive Congressional candidates, and since has teamed with Senator Mark Hatfield and Senator Arlen Specter to lead bipartisan legislation doubling the NIH research budget. Congressman Upton has consistently championed bipartisan initiatives benefiting Parkinson's research and other health-related matters, and is the lead House Republican sponsor of the Udall bill. To make reservations or for further information on the event, call PAN at 800-850-4726. ----------------------------------------------- Parkinson's Action Network 800-850-4726 Headquarters: 818 College Ave., Suite C Santa Rosa, CA 95404 phone 707-544-1994 fax 707-544-2363 email PAN@xxxxxxxxx Washington, D.C. office: 601 13th Street, NW., Suite 310 Washington, DC 20005 phone 202-628-2079 fax 202-628-2077 Brad Udall, Chair Joan I.
