Depression, yawning - tremor, & a possibility
Marjorie Moorefield <olquilty@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: <<You know Jacob, you mentioned depression and there have been so many books written about depression, especially by some well know authors. I have read them, and can feel the pain in their descriptions, but I have never suffered from depression. My Sister is suffering from it, and she is really worrying me, and all the rest of the family. Thank you for describing it so well. Maybe I will be able to help my Sister more now.>>> Marjorie, and all, the most helpful book - especially if one actually does the exercises - that I have found is Dr. David Burns' "The Feeling Good Handbook". Have you read it? another subject: << . . . does anyone else experience an >increase in tremors while yawning? It's the strangest thing. I >can't find anything about this symptom in the literature.>>> there seem to be yawns of tension, anxiety, ill-at-ease feeling - that can be prone to tremoring. the purely sleepy yawn; the too shallow breathing yawn, and perhaps a pretend yawn when one is bored but not cognizant of this breach of etiquette coming on. 3rd subject: Richard Doyle <rdoyle@xxxxxxxxxxx> request for advice <<<I'm a new member to the list, and have had Parkinson's since '87. I've got an interesting collection of symptoms that my doctor has said are "too vague" to ascribe to anything. Has anyone had this particular symptom grouping, and if so, do you have any advice/ suggestions? I take Sinemet 25/100 4x daily, sometimes I use the CR. I stopped Permax 1 1/2 months ago because it seemed to make worse the symptoms I'll describe. Additionally, I had quadruple bypass surgury, with a valve replaced. I have tightness around my neck like a band being pulled tight -- then this feeling moves up to my head, squeezing my head tight. This makes my vision blurry. My lower ribs also feel like there's a band tightening. My heart valve then thumps so loudly that it scares the heck out of me. When I was taking the Permax, all of this was painful. Then I stopped the Permax, and the symptoms went away. Now, much to my dismay, they're back, but they're not painful yet.>>> Richard, I have not heard of the specific feelings, but I have had several anxiety attacks in regard to chest pains, also breathing inadequacy/shortness of breath, and in relation to defecation or urination. I am curious about the sequence of your taking of sinemet and amounts since diagnosis; when did the bypass surgery occur; and when did the described feelings and tightness et cetera start and how long and how much Permax did you take and when on the time-line of your PD history. Do you take 25/100 CR med per some pattern? Do the symptoms described occur at the same time of day or in some consistent pattern? How much experimentation in dose modification have you pursued? Is rigidity and slowness your major PD symptom rather than tremor? Do you take the four doses at the same times each day? I would be glad to comment further if you wish to email me directly- or respond to more details via the listserv. My e-mail and web-site addresses are below. my best to all. I wonder what the budget agreement will bring to the Udall bill in Congress. -- ron 1936, dz PD 1984 Ridgecrest, California Ronald F. Vetter <rfvetter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
