cln/meds from the VA
Dear cl, As I understand it, there are only 2 categories of financial status to get meds from the VA - exempt and non-exempt. I don't know what the income requirements are, but as far as I know the only payment for non-exempt is $2 per prescription for each 30 days of medication supplied. I believe that's all even Ross Perot would pay - but I'm not positive on that (Bill Clinton need not apply) Applies to any chronic disease. And the Veteran is then supposed to get all his/her meds under these conditions - not just the meds for the chronic disease. The only vitamins I've gotten out of them are Vit C, though. You won't get any blue, green or purple algae here. Just call up the nearest VA Hospital and make an appt. The first one's all paperwork. Get his DD 214 out of the safety deposit box and bring it along. You've got to have that.
