yesterday.....   We hope to have the names of the 40 Senators who
signed the letter to  Senator Stevens in a day or so.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HAS BEEN PASSED ON TO US BY MIKE
CLAEYS OF THE PARKINSON ACTION NETWORK WITH THE REQUEST THAT
ADVOCATES OF THE UDALL BILL IMMEDIATELY CONTACT THEIR SENATORS.

Last week advocates were asked to call their Senators and urge
support for the bill introduced by Senator Connie Mack (R-
Florida) which would double NIH spending in the next 5 years.
Thanks in large measure to the outpouring of calls this bill was
passed.

Mack - Feinstein Resolution:

As a follow-up to last week's legislation Senators Mack and
Feinstein (D-California) have introduced a resolution which
would require that the $2 billion dollars be added to the budget
of the Senate Appropriations Committee so that funds will be
available from that budget to be added to the NIH allocation.
Forty senators have signed a letter which may already have been
sent on to Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) Appropriations Chair.
If your Senators are not among the 40 ask them to indicate their
support of the resolution by contacting Senator Stevens.
