Zenia...

Without meaning to disparage your work or your request for women with PD to
respond to you, please consider my response to be directed more to the PD-List
members than to you alone.

In reading Zenia's post, I was confronted with something I hadn't consciously
thought of before. When it comes to Parkinson's, I don't think of us as
gender-specific Parkies, but ALL of us as persons with Parkinson's.

I recognize there are some natural and normal differences between the male and
female (and I love those differences!) <smile> but when it comes to this
steeeenkin' disease, I see us all in the same boat together, paddling just as
hard and as fast as we can to reach the safety of the shore - a shore which
LOOKS so very close, but seems to remain elusively in the distance, no matter
how hard we paddle.

Subject: Thesis on Women and PD

My name is Zenia Chavez. I was diagnosed with PD two years ago.
At that time I was just beginning a masters program at Georgia State
University, Atlanta, Georgia. At first I did my best to ignore the
illness but by the time thesis came around I was pretty much disabled.
So, I saw this as an opportunity to research and reach out to other women
with PD.

I am looking to interview women with PD. What I need to cover are
questions regarding your experiences and feelings as a women with PD.

Would you be willing to participate?

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please
respond at gs02zzc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
