Information/Parkinson's Disease

Several people including Judith Guion and Don Fagin have indicated an
interest in learning all they can about PD so it seemed that it might be
timely to repeat here information on the various Parkinson's Disease
Associations. Each one provides a vast amount of written information on PD,
and will make this available to patients and caregivers free on request. Most
also have regular newletters that periodically offer up to date infomation
and guidance. The literature provided by each group is quite different, and I
suggest you phone or write and ask to be put on their mailing lists. Of
course, they also solicit contributions which are used to fund research and
defray other costs, but these contributions are voluntary.
 The associations are listed below.

The American Parkinson's Disease Association
60 Bay Street
Staten Island, NY 10301
(800) 223-2732

United Parkinson Foundation
833 West Washington Boulevard
Chicago, IL 60607
(312) 733-1893

Parkinson's Disease Foundation
650 West 168th Street

National Parkinson Foundation, Inc.

Miami, FL 33136

In addition, many local support groups publish excellent newsletters and most
public libraries have excellent current books including such works as "Living
Well with Parkinson's Disease" by Glenna Atwood, "Parkinson's Disease" by
Lieberman and Williams, and "Parkinson's Disease: the Mystery, the Search and
the Promise" by Sue Dauphin.
