Re: Medical quals. for pallid...
Kathi Mitchell, Have just read your letter. My mother is scheduled for a thalamotomy on April 11 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. Dr. Young was recommended by our neurologist and we have looked into this as best we can. If there is anyone out there who has had a thalamotomy please let us know the outcome. It is different for everyone which makes it so hard to go ahead with the procedure. My mother is 72 years old and has had parkinson for 13 years. She has tremors on both sides and has become weaker over the last 18 months. She still does many things for herself but there are many things that she can no longer do. She feels that if the surgery will improve her quality of life the risks are worth it. We talked to several people who have had palladotomies and they had great results. She is having the thalamotomy because she doesn't have the rigidity that most people have. The palladotomy works on the rigidity and the tremors. Your father could use another physician but it is hard to get them to do something new. If you need more info I can send you the number for the Northwest Hospital Gamma Knife Department that is located in Seattle. Cindy Houser
