Judith Guttman: I think the best assist for difficulty in getting in and out of bed, and turning in bed is a trapeze hanging overhead. There are a couple of models - one attaches to the bed the other hangs from the ceiling (screwed to a joist). Some people just tie a rope to the end of the bed to help pull them up to a sitting position. For the bathroom problems a grab bar next to the toilet and 2-3 grab bars in the shower one on each wall and a handle to grab outside the stall or tub to assist getting out.
